DAMON BANKS
Damon Banks is a bassist, composer, producer and educator. He is a “World Musician” in the truest sense of the term. Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, Damon Banks has performed and recorded with some of the entertainment industry’s brightest stars and innovative musicians throughout his career such as George Benson, Peter Gabriel, Angelique Kidjo, Hassan Hakmoun & Zahar, Wadada Leo Smith, Arto Lindsay & Marc Ribot, DJ SPOOKY, Melba Moore, Brooklyn Raga Massive, The Frankfurt Ballet and Adam Rudolph. He has written songs for: George Benson (“That’s Right”) and Miki Howard (“Three Wishes”). As a soundtrack / session bass player, he has played on: “Footsteps In Africa” (Kiahkeya films – Kathi Von Koerber, director), “BET on Jazz” (BET), “Good Morning America” (ABC) MTV Europe, Fuji TV (Japan) and Globo TV (Brasil). In 2009, he received the DCAC (Dutchess County Arts Council / NYSCA) grant for his multimedia theater piece entitled “Resistance: a Maroon story”. The newest version is currently in production, as well as his first feature film documentary on the evolution of “Dance Music”.
THE CAGE 147
The Cage 147 is Chester, New York’s newest local band made up of four Gen-Z kids with a fascination for music and Nicolas Cage. The band covers a variety of their favorite rock bands from Pink Floyd to Green Day in addition to creating catchy original songs about typical teenage topics like procrastination, angst and finding oneself.
